Push-off palms

Arm and leg movements continue to become smoother across these first months, and for this age group activity of any intensity is worth encouraging — light or more energetic, both count. A steady palm where the feet already go gives each kick somewhere to arrive.

🧺 You need

none

🛡️ Meet the kick, never push the leg — your palm waits where the foot already lands, and the moment you are moving the leg rather than answering it, stop. If baby stiffens, arches or pulls the foot away, that foot is finished for today. Leave a gap after feeds: pressure that folds the knees onto a full tummy brings the milk straight back.

Push-off palms

A palm where the soles already land

Baby on their back, you sitting by their feet — hold a flat palm lightly where the soles already land. Not pressing, just there.
