Mirrors around the house

⏱️ 5 min📦 things you have🏠 indoor🤲 in your arms👐 Sensory🧠 Cognitive

One of Pathways' ideas for these months is to work mirrors into playtime around the house — not a special toy, just the ones already hanging up. What comes back might be a long stare, an open mouth, or a hand out towards the glass, and none of it is something you have to produce.

🧺 You need

  • a mirror you already have — hall, bathroom, or the wardrobe door

🛡️ Baby stays in your arms with their full weight held — never propped against the glass, never sat on a basin, shelf or windowsill. Keep the movement slow: no bouncing, no jolting. Play only at a mirror that is fixed to the wall; anything leaning or freestanding can be pulled over. If you want a mirror down at floor level it has to be a baby-safe unbreakable one, not glass, and it does not stay there once you stop. End at fussing, arching away, or a head that turns from the glass and stays turned.
