A circle of things worth turning for

โฑ๏ธ 5 min๐Ÿ“ฆ things you have๐Ÿ  indoor๐Ÿคฒ on their tummy๐Ÿคธ Motor

Reaching to different points in a circle of things lets babies develop the muscles for rolling over, scooting on their belly and crawling. And it helps to have something interesting in front of them, so lifting that head has a reason behind it.

๐Ÿงบ You need

  • blanket
  • firm floor
  • 3โ€“4 safe household things โ€” a board book, a folded flannel, a soft toy

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Tummy time is awake time โ€” stay in the room, never let it turn into a nap, and stop at the first sign of tiring: a head that stays down, a face pressed flat, or grumbling that doesn't settle. Keep the ring a full arm's length out so nothing sits where the head comes down, and pick things too big to fit in a mouth. If you lie down inside the ring too, stay awake โ€” the floor is no place to doze beside a baby on their tummy. Everything gets picked up when you stop; none of it stays on the floor or in the cot.

A wide ring, an arm's length out

Lay the blanket on a firm floor and set three or four things in a wide ring around baby โ€” an arm's length out, well clear of the face.
