The same-order wind-down
Knowing what to expect helps babies feel safe, confident, and in control of their world, which is why ZERO TO THREE suggests keeping daily routines in the same order, at roughly the same time. Nothing has to be added to your evening โ the order itself is the whole activity.

๐ก๏ธ However the evening ends, baby finishes it on their back on a firm flat surface in a clear cot โ no pillows, bumpers or loose bedding. The last feed is where the risk sits: an armchair or a sofa is not a safe place for either of you to fall asleep, so if you feel yourself drifting, put baby down first and sit back down afterwards.
