Opening and closing things to see how they work is the same investigation as filling and dumping, run on a hinge instead of an opening. A lid gives a toddler a small mechanism they can operate completely, and being able to cause the whole thing is what holds them there.
๐งบ You need
- three or four containers with easy lids โ saucepan, plastic tub, shoebox
๐ก๏ธ Nothing that latches, locks or traps a finger, and no lid a hand could get stuck under. Skip anything with a battery compartment โ a lid is exactly what invites opening.
