Tummy-time micro-sessions
Prone play builds the strength in the neck and trunk behind every later movement — rolling, sliding along on their belly, crawling. Short and frequent beats long and teary.
🧺 You need
- blanket
- firm floor
- mirror or contrast card (optional)
🛡️ Tummy time is awake time — stay in the room, and never let it turn into a nap. Stop at the first sign of tiring: a head that stays down, a face pressed flat, or grumbling that doesn't settle. On the chest variant, if you feel yourself getting sleepy, move baby onto their back on a firm flat surface first. If you prop the mirror or card, set it so it cannot tip onto baby — or simply hold it yourself.
