A tower of four

Building a tower of four blocks or more is a fine-motor step past the two-block stack of a year old: the fourth block only stays up if the hand can let go slowly and straight down. The releasing is the new skill, not the placing.

๐Ÿงบ You need

  • four or more blocks, stacking cups or small sturdy boxes

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Blocks bigger than a fist, nothing that fits fully in a mouth, and no battery compartments or loose inserts. A tower is safe to send flying; a small part is not.

A tower of four

Sit opposite, not alongside

Facing them puts the blocks between you and leaves both their hands free, which a shoulder-to-shoulder seat does not.
