Watching is doing: when a baby stares or watches quietly, they are taking in a great deal. Babies use their senses both to get acquainted with the world and to find comfort, and every baby goes about it differently — and the world on offer here is the ordinary one you were already standing in.

🛡️ The floor, never a sofa, a bed or a worktop — this one runs long enough for a first roll to happen while your back is turned. Keep baby right out of the kitchen work zone and off the route you walk carrying hot pans or drinks; a spill reaches further than the mat looks. Keep the laundry pile out of arm's reach too.
