A roll under the chest

โฑ๏ธ 3 min๐Ÿ“ฆ things you have๐Ÿ  indoor๐Ÿคฒ on their tummy๐Ÿคธ Motor

Tummy play is where the neck and trunk get the strength every later movement runs on, and a firm little roll under the chest lifts the shoulders just enough that holding the head up costs less. Something worth looking at in front of them โ€” your face, most of all โ€” is what makes it worth doing at all.

๐Ÿงบ You need

  • a small hand towel
  • a blanket on a firm floor

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Tummy play is awake time, always โ€” stay beside them, and never let it drift into a nap. The roll goes under the chest and armpits only, never under the chin and never near the face, and it stays firm and flat rather than soft or bulky. Take it away the moment the go ends, and never leave your baby alone with it, not for a second. Stop at the first sign of tiring โ€” a head that stays down, a face pressed flat, grumbling that does not settle.

A roll under the chest

Roll the towel firm, not fluffy

Roll a small hand towel along its long edge until it is firm and about as thick as your wrist. A soft, puffy roll is the wrong one.
