Feel the wind
Moving air, then the light weight of the cloth, then gone again — a few seconds of touch that asks nothing of baby. The feel of the scarf builds tactile and body awareness, and the small newness of each pass is exactly the kind of thing babies come into the world prepared to enjoy, alongside what is already familiar.
🧺 You need
- light scarf or muslin cloth
🛡️ Tummy time is awake time — stay in the room, and stop at the first sign of tiring: a head that stays down, a face pressed flat, or fussing that doesn't settle. The scarf only ever lands on the back and legs — or, on the back-lying variant, the legs and tummy — never anything higher: not the chest, neck, face or head. It stays in your hand from the first billow to the last. It goes back in the drawer when you stop — loose fabric near a sleeping or unattended baby is not a toy, and it never goes in the cot.
