Kick the crinkle

⏱️ 3 min📦 things you have🏠 indoor🤲 on their back🤸 Motor👐 Sensory

Somewhere in these months the legs straighten out of their pulled-up newborn curl and the kicking gets more enthusiastic. Anything a kick lands on that answers back is worth putting there, and reaching, pushing and moving their limbs during everyday routines and floor play is exactly what this age is encouraged to do.

🧺 You need

  • a sheet of crinkly paper
  • a blanket or the changing mat

🛡️ The paper stays down at their feet and never travels up towards the face — one sheet, flat on the floor, never over them and never in their hands. Take it with you at the end and never leave your baby alone with it. Crumple it once by your own ear before you start, and if it sounds sharp to you it is sharper to them. A startle, a turn away or a face that crumples ends the go there.

Kick the crinkle

Test the sound at your own ear first

Crumple the paper once beside your own ear. If it is louder than you would like there, fold it in half and use it softly, or leave this one for another day.
