How
Stroke baby's palm with your index finger; the hand closes around it (palmar grasp reflex). Let baby hold; gently pull a few millimetres so they "resist", then relax. Alternate hands. Talk softly through it.
Why this matters
The grasp reflex is the raw material of voluntary grasping. Repeated grip-release cycles strengthen hand muscles and feed touch-pressure signals to the motor cortex before intentional reaching begins (~3β4 months).
