play gym, or a soft high-contrast toy dangled from your hand

How

Lay baby under a dangling toy at arm's length — close enough that a flailing swipe connects. Wiggle it, then hold still. Celebrate every accidental hit; accidental is the point. A few minutes is a full workout.

Why this matters

Around 2–3 months, swiping at objects is the first bridge from random arm movement to hand-eye coordination. Each hit teaches the brain "that movement caused that" — the seed of intentional reaching.
