You need

soft rattle or your voice

How

With baby on their back and calm, shake a soft rattle gently ~30 cm to one side, out of view. Pause. Watch for stilling, eye shift, or a head turn toward it. Reward any turn with your face and a warm "you found it!". Alternate sides.

Why this matters

Localizing sound β€” turning toward it β€” typically emerges over months 2–4 and wires hearing to head/eye movement, a foundation for attention and language.
